Welcome to the Hunts Sailing Club Website

Hunts Sailing Club, located at St Ives, close to Huntingdon, Cambridge, and Peterborough in NW Cambridgeshire, provides class racing for Solo, Enterprise, Phantom, and Laser Class dinghies, as well as an all comers handicap. We are a very family oriented club, with youth sail training, and several multi-generation families, with father vs son, daughter and wives competition in and across classes! More details on the above, under the "Sailing" heading. Please have a look round our web site, and come and visit us for real one day!

Laser Fleet Training 2010

More information has been completed below. Signing up sheets for the 2 courses will be going up in the clubhouse on the 24th January. As with last year any excess from either of the courses will be ploughed back in to the fleet by improving the club boats which are becoming increasingly popular (as long as the main committee approves).

I have managed to get Brett Cockayne to agree to come down to give us all an excellent coaching day like he did last year. This, in conjunction with your glorious leader, should make it a great day. Let us hope the weather is kinder to us! I am sure those who attended the coaching day in 2009 will agree that 20-25 knots winds and hail showers did not make for pleasant sailing at times!

Regional Training at Grafham with head coach Jon Emmett. For those who cannot wait until May for our own club coaching day this is definitely worth attending. I am unable to attend myself as I am at the Active Laser launch event and an instructor preassesment the following day! Full information click here.

Announcement of new ActiveLaser scheme being jointly run by the RYA and LaserPerformance. This scheme is aimed at revitalising club Laser fleets and encouraging those boats that never move out on to the water. There is a luanch event on 27th February 2010 down a WPNSA that is being hosted by SailLaser. Stu Bryant (a new member of the fleet and main committee member) and myself are hoping to attend. There is a prize of a days coaching with Paul Goodison for the club who comes up with the most innovative way to 'Activate' their Laser fleet so get your thinking caps on, no idea is a bad idea aside from one that is never put forward!
